I chose to write about the 3 simple steps I take to combat the flesh and feed the spirit. This past Sunday we celebrated the resurrection of our Lord and Savior. How wonderful I felt on Easter Sunday to celebrate the hope we have in Jesus our risen Lord.
To help keep that wonderful Easter Sunday feeling and protect myself from the evil in this fallen world, I do the following:
1. I make it a priority to read God's Word everyday. I often take time in the morning before my day gets started. It helps put my mind in the right place before I head out into the world. We must renew ourselves in God DAILY!
"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable perfect will of God" Romans 12:2
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16
2. I listen to christian Music throughout my day. When I go for a run, I play Christian Music. On my drive to and from work, I listen to Christian music. It refreshes me, calms me, and allows me to praise and worship God.
3. I attend church services, where I can interact with other believers in Jesus and participate in group worship. I leave feeling renewed and refreshed. It helps put things in the proper perspective for the week.
I always have scripture available to read. I have it stored on my phone, or written on cards so I can always refer to a verse that I may need to encourage me during the day.
I would love to hear what you do to protect yourself from the evil in this world and feed your spirit. <3
I also follow your three simple steps and find that my foundation for God is stronger as a result. My other idea is that prayer is never far from my lips. Throughout the day I am thanking God or turning to Him in quick prayers to see me through. Blessings, Mary!
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas! Thank you so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, Elaine. I do the things you mentioned. My 3 steps are: choose to say yes to God, Saturate yourself in God's Word, and Pray.
ReplyDeleteGreat and important steps! I try to incorporate them as well! Another thing I do is journal my prayers and in difficult moments go back to them and see what God has done! His faithfulness in the past encourages me as I look at the future! Blessings to you!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your three steps. Worship music is a big one for me too. It really does put God on my mind and helps combat temptations.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much everyone for your responses! I have enjoyed reading them!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your 3 steps. All of them are very important. I also would say prayer is one of the most important things we can do to keep us close to the Lord, able to hear His voice.
ReplyDeleteYes, Prayer is so important! When I was younger, I would just pray recited prayers. Now, I have a conversation with Jesus all day. Praising Him, Thanking Him and praying for the Holy Spirits's Guidance!
ReplyDeleteI love how you talked about listening to Christian music!
ReplyDeleteElaine, it's hard to narrow things down to 3! I like that you added christian music. I find music to be soul-nourishing too!
ReplyDeleteI struggle to find time to read the Word. I listen to Christian music and I have podcasts that I listen to on the way to work. I loved your post!!
ReplyDeleteThree great steps! I love that being involved in a church community brings us that fellowship with other Christians, but also encouragement and accountability! It's such a blessing to learn from each other.... Thanks for sharing!
